Responsible for carrying out financial, accounting and administrative services and enforcing internal controls in order to protect firm assets and support operations. Maintain oversight of one accountant. Report to CFO.
Assist with preparation of the budget by collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger within accounting system
Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered
Prepare monthly financial statements
Prepare quarterly reports and report on variances between results and budgets
Maintain financial files and records with appropriate documentation
Lead annual audit conducted by external firm
Assist external tax advisors with federal, state and local tax filings, including sales and use tax and 1099s
Maintain cash controls
Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in order to ensure complete and accurate records of receipts and disbursements
Monitor cash reserves and investments
Prepare and reconcile bank statements
Monitor and assess fees paid to third party vendors to ensure payments are made in accordance with terms and conditions and initiate corrective actions, as needed
Oversee check and wire preparation for all accounts due
Verify charges for all credit cards issued to partners and employees on behalf of the firm
Oversee integrity of automated expense reporting system
Process payroll activities within Sage Intacct
Review reports from payroll provider
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong financial and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Quick learner and self-starter who has the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
Strong Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Proficiency in Sage Intacct, SAP Concur and Adaptive Insights a plus
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Understand general tax concepts
Must be able to effectively communicate to senior management regarding accounting concepts
4 year Bachelor’s degree required, concentration in Accounting and active CPA preferred
6+ years’ accounting experience in the financial industry preferred. Asset management experience a plus.
