The Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS, www.psers.state.pa.us/), located in Harrisburg, PA, is seeking candidates for the position of Intermediate Investment Professional - Real Assets. The organization currently has approximately $53 billion in assets under management that are invested for the long-term benefit of its members.
This position will support the Portfolio Managers (Real Estate and Infrastructure) in all aspects of the investment management process, including monitoring, evaluating and sourcing investment managers and co-investments across Real Assets (real estate, farmland and infrastructure). The intermediate investment professional will be responsible for the following duties related to the Real Asset portfolios:
• Assist in the review and evaluation of real asset investment opportunities, including meeting with partnership principals and coordinating the administrative process to secure Board approval of the investment. • Monitor existing real asset investments, ensuring compliance with the terms of the limited partnership agreement and other contracts or agreements; ensure the accuracy of partnership reports, including financial statements, quarterly reports, notices of distributions, capital calls, and investment valuations. • Update quarterly valuations of the private real assets portfolio and reconciling valuations with investment consultants. • Participate in select Advisory Committee Meetings, Annual Meetings and teleconferences of the investment’s real asset partnerships and prepare written meeting reports when portfolio managers are unable to attend. • Provide analytical and administrative support to the Portfolio Managers in respect to new real asset agreements, amendments, consents and other contracts, including fee structure, distribution ratios and contractual preferences for the benefit of the Fund. • Act as a backup for junior investment professionals, as needed. • Provide support to the Deputy CIO of Non-Traditional Investments and Portfolio Managers on special projects, as needed. • Reconcile internal data with external consultants. • Prepare regular performance, exposure and asset class review presentations and maintain portfolio-related databases
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and will possess broad knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative investment evaluation concepts. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The intermediate investment professional will be part of a larger investment team of over 40 individuals; strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work ethic are essential.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and two to four years of relevant work experience in the investment industry, preferably at an endowment, foundation, pension, investment consultant or other allocator of capital. The candidate must have strong MS Excel/PowerPoint skills and experience in performance reporting/reconciliation and working with analytical software solutions is strongly preferred. Progress toward the CFA or CAIA designation is considered a plus.
The salary for this position is $83,756 to $119,785 and is negotiable based on experience and credentials. Compensation includes an attractive benefits package.
